“Vegas”

Sorrel gelding foaled in 1999 stands 16.1 hands and weighs 1475 lbs.

Raised by Quantum Quarter Horses he is out of Root Beer Docz (see Stallion) and Mitzy’s Hanka Chick (see Broodmare).

Vegas is a rare find of size and turning ability.  He has an enormous stride but can also collect and turn with great agility.  I always wanted a horse of his size, so I decided to take his training slow to preserve him.  He was started as a 2 year old by Dave Manning and was then turned out.  I rode him lightly as a 3 year old and then he was given an extended vacation due to the birth of my own child and time for riding became non existent.  Fall of his 6th year I put him back into training and in his 7th year spring of 2006 started running him at the ABRA jackpots.  At his first jackpot he ran a 1D time and at his 4th jackpot at Ponoka Stampede Grounds we placed 6th in the 1D with over 70 entries.  He went to the ABRA finals with no indoor experience and out of 464 entries with 2 runs each Vegas clocked the fastest time from the start  line to the first barrel.  He was also the 4th fastest around barrel 2 and 11th fastest around barrel 3.  We are now the 2006 and 2007 Copper Penny Barrel Series Open 1D Champions as well as taking the title of the Most Consistent Times for the 2007 series.  To date his fast time on a standard pattern is a 17.8 and I can’t wait to see what is to come.
